Isn’t it in Kawhi’s best interest to stay in SA?
Re: “Spurs can’t risk getting zero for Kawhi,” July 3
Cedric Golden is a fine columnist and human being, evidenced by his body of work in Austin, but why in the wide, wide world of sports does he think Kawhi Leonard would be traded to a team in the Western Conference?
The Spurs organization is transparent to a fault. Take them at their word. Honesty runs rampant in the Spurs’ front office, again to their fault. The Spurs hate the Lakers as a historical fact. San Antonio would rather capitulate to a lesser deal with a club in the East than watch the road to the regular (season) and postseason run through L.A.
I know we are talking about contract negotiations that are insane, but how again is it not in Leonard’s best interest to take a $200 million supermax deal he has earned in San Antonio, which is $20 million more than any other club can offer?
