Sheldon Dries scored with just a minute remaining in overtime to lift the Texas Stars to a 3-2 win over the Bakersfield Condors at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park on Friday night.
The goal by Dries, assisted by Travis Morin, gave the Stars (15-9-0-1) their second straight overtime victory and their 10th win out of the last 13 contests.
The last three wins by Texas were earned in overtime or shootout.
Bakersfield (9-10-3-0) took the first lead of the game when Brad Malone scored with the help of Zach O’Brien 3:40 into the first period.
Jason Dickinson tied the game just under five minutes later with assists from Brent Regner and Dillon Heatherington. Dickinson leads the Stars with 11 goals this season.
Denis Gurianov scored midway through the second period to give the Stars a 2-1 lead. His second goal of the year was assisted by Roope Hintz and Niklas Hansson.
Early in the third period Iiro Pakarinen made it 2-2 as he scored on assists from Josh Currie and Jamie Doornbosch.
Landon Bow had a solid night in goal for the Stars, stopping 35 of the 37 shots he faced.
Eddie Pasquale was hit with the loss as he made 25 saves on 28 shots.
The game featured 10 power play opportunities, but neither team cashed in. Bakersfield went 0-for-6 while Texas was 0-for-4.
