Despite being outshot, the Texas Stars came away with a 4-3 win over the Tucson Roadrunners in Tucson, Ariz. on Saturday night.
The win avenged an overtime loss on Friday.
Sheldon Dries scored the winning goal at 9:44 into the final period to give the Stars their third win in four games.
Mike Sislo, who scored the overtime winner on Friday, opened the scoring for Tucson less than a minute into the first period.
The Stars responded in a big way in the second period. Texas scored three goals, starting with Justin Dowling’s 11th of the season just 17 seconds into the frame. He was assisted by Travis Morin and Curtis McKenzie. It was Morin’s 43rd assist of the season.
Roope Hintz scored less than 30 seconds later to give Texas a 2-1 lead. Colin Markison and Dillon Heatherington assisted.
Gavin Bayreuther doubled the lead with a goal over 13 minutes later.
Tucson tried to get back in the game when Tye McGinn scored early in the third to make it 3-2.
After Dries scored, Mario Kempe made it a one-goal game again as he scored at 14:38 into the period.
Landon Bow didn’t allow another goal to seal the win for Texas, however. He made 24 saves on the 27 shots he faced.
Texas only put up 10 shots, converting on four of them.
