AHL: San Jose hands Texas Stars second loss in a row

Antoine Bibeau stopped an onslaught of shots by the Texas Stars in the final period to help the San Jose Barracuda to a 3-1 victory in an American Hockey League game late Friday night in San Jose, Calif.

The Barracuda goalie had 29 saves, 13 in the third period, to nail down the victory. With his team up 2-1, he made a sliding blocker save on an odd-man rush by the Stars and another point-blank stop on Denis Gurianov in the slot.

Texas’ Brian Flynn hit the crossbar with a shot in the third period.

Texas (17-11-1-1) gave up an empty net goal by Brandon Mashinter for the final margin.

John McCarthy got the Barracuda (13-11-0-2) on the board first with a power-play goal midway through the first period. Brandon Bolling made it 2-0 before Flynn answered for the Stars.

Texas goalie Landon Bow stopped 26 of 28 shots.

San Jose was 1-for-2 on the power play, and the Stars were 0-for-3.

Texas, which has suffered back-to-back losses, played the finale of its three-game road trip against the Bakersfield Condors late Saturday night.
