High school football: Player of the Week and Game Balls


PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Garrett Wilson, WR/DB, Lake Travis

A junior, Wilson accounted for touchdowns receiving, rushing and passing in the Cavaliers’ 28-14 over Katy in a Class 6A, Division I state semifinal.

Wilson caught a 42-yard TD pass from Hudson Card, completed a 32-yard scoring pass to Card and also scored on a 2-yard run. He finished with eight receptions for 119 yards to help the Cavaliers advance to a Class 6A championship game for the third straight year.

GAME BALLS

Matthew Baldwin, QB, Lake Travis: A senior bound for Ohio State, Baldwin completed 22 of 30 passes for 225 yards and a touchdown against Katy before leaving with an injury in the fourth quarter.

Hudson Card, WR, Lake Travis: A sophomore, Card caught nine passes against Katy for 92 yards and a touchdown. He also threw a TD pass to Wilson that gave the Cavaliers a 14-7 lead in the second quarter.

Jaylen Ellis, WR, Cedar Ridge: A junior, Ellis caught four passes for 115 yards, including a 71-yard TD reception, as Cedar Ridge lost to Allen 28-7 in a Class 6A, Division I state semifinal.

Alexander Julian, RB, McCallum: A senior, Julian rushed 26 times for 100 yards — giving him 2,468 for the season — during a 49-21 loss to College Station in a Class 5A, Division II state semifinal.

Max Perez, QB, McCallum: The McCallum senior finished with a combined 172 yards rushing or passing and ran for all three of the Knights’ TDs.

Cade Stoever, WR, Wimberley: A senior, Stoever caught five passes for 134 yards, including an 84-yard TD reception, in a 30-21 loss to West Orange-Stark in a 4A, Division II state semifinal.

JoJo Weeks, QB, Wimberley: The Texans senior passed for 297 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions against West Orange-Stark.

Kaleb Wenson, DT, Lake Travis: A junior, Wenson made 13 tackles and recovered a fumble in the victory over Katy.

Daymond Williams, DT, Cedar Ridge: A senior, Williams totaled four sacks in the Raiders’ loss to Allen.
