WATCH: USC’s Jordan McLaughlin and Chimezie Metu link up for long-distance alley-oop

USC senior guard Jordan McLaughlin is one of the most prolific passers in Pac-12 history, entering Thursday’s conference tournament quarterfinal against Oregon State fifth all-time in assists. And at least once a game he dishes out a dime that’s hard to believe even after watching it several times.

But his lob from beyond halfcourt to junior forward Chimezie Metu might have been the best of all.

Just WOW.

McLaughlin’s pass midway through the second half was the third of his 4 assists to go along with 13 points in second-seeded USC’s 61-48 win over No. 10 Oregon State, while Metu’s flush was part of a 22-point, 11-rebound performance on 10-of-15 shooting.

USC (22-10) moves on to the Pac-12 tournament semifinals on Friday night against either No. 3 Utah or No. 6 Oregon.

The football team from El Paso Del Valle was prepared to travel 590 miles last week to play a game in Hutto. Unfortunately, the threat of lightning storms in Central Texas forced the teams to cancel. No sense in spending money for food, gas and hotel rooms for a game that might not be played. For more than 1,300 public high schools in the state, the...

Letters to the Sports Editor

Foster should be kicked off for his behavior I watched the game on television between USC and UT and found the behavior of B.J. Foster and fellow football players disgusting. As he was being escorted off the field, his fellow teammates were giving him praise for his illegal behavior. I think the whole incident (was) ugly and even Foster’s behavior...
