Texas softball coach Connie Clark to step down after long run with Longhorns

Ohio State football’s Kendall Sheffield will run track, too, per report

Ohio State cornerback Kendall Sheffield will run for the Buckeyes’ track team this weekend, according to a report from The Columbus Dispatch’s Tim May. Sheffield, a decorated track and field athlete at Thurgood Marshall High School (Missouri City, Tx.), will compete in the 60-meter dash at the Music City Challenge in Nashville.

His personal best in the event is a 6.70, according to TheLantern.com.

The Buckeyes recruited Sheffield hard for the class of 2015 before the cornerback ultimately chose Alabama. Sheffield transferred after one season, though, because of limited playing time, ending up at Blinn (Texas) Community College. The Buckeyes recruited Sheffield again, and this time they got him.

Sheffield finally got the playing time he craved in 2017, and he didn’t dissapoint. In 13 games, he recorded 40 tackles, 31 of which were solo. He added two tackles for loss, nine passes defended, one fumble recovered and one forced fumble. He looked more impressive as the season wore on, and some wondered if Sheffield would declare for the NFL Draft after the season, which he ultimately decided not to do.

Instead Sheffield will return to Ohio State for further fine tuning, which will include some work with the track team. It’s unclear how long Sheffield’s stint on that team will last, and if it will interfere with his football responsibilites.
