Recruiting season started a little early for coach Larry Fedora and his North Carolina staff, but it paid off Thursday evening when 3-star quarterback Cade Fortin (Suwanee, G.A. / North Gwinnett H.S) announced his commitment to the Tar Heels, according to Tar Heel Illustrated.
Fortin, who is a top-25 quarterback in the 2018 class ( per 247Sports), was previously committed to Texas A&M, but de-committed over the weekend following the hiring of Jimbo Fisher. Per the report, Fedora and QB Coach Keith Heckendorf had an in-home visit with Fortin on Wednesday night, which clearly sealed the deal.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound pro-style passer threw for over 3,500 yards, 29 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 25 starts at the varsity level, but missed most of his senior season after breaking his fibula in Week 2.
With the addition of Fortin, UNC’s class ranks No. 34 nationally and 7th in the ACC.
