Omaha’s Dziedzic, Staumont and Lovelady shut out Round Rock


Jonathan Dziedzic, Josh Staumont and Richard Lovelady combined for a shutout as the Omaha Storm Chasers beat the Round Rock Express 9-0 Thursday at Dell Diamond.

The loss makes it seven straight for the Express.

Dziedzic (6-8) went six scoreless innings, allowing five hits while striking out two and walking one to pick up the win. Chris Tillman (0-1) went 2 1/3 innings, allowing two runs and two hits in the Pacific Coast League game. He also struck out one and walked four.

Omaha batted around in the third inning, sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring five runs, including a two-run double by Jack Lopez. Lopez went 2-for-4 with four RBIs.

The Storm Chasers later added one run in the sixth, two in the seventh, and one in the ninth to finish off the shutout.

Donnie Dewees singled four times, scoring two runs in the win. Terrance Gore also scored twice in the game.

Ramon Torres also crossed home plate twice in addition to hitting a home run.

The Express were blanked for the fourth time this season, while the Storm Chasers’ staff recorded their 11th shutout of the year.

Nick Torres and Franklin Rollin each had two hits for the Express.
