Brett Nicholas hit a walk-off two-run single, as the El Paso Chihuahuas beat the Round Rock Express 7-6 on Tuesday. With the victory, the Chihuahuas swept the four-game series in El Paso.
The Express took a 6-5 lead in the top of the seventh when Andy Ibanez hit a two-run single as part of a three-run inning.
Reliever Brad Wieck (2-0) went one scoreless inning, striking out two and walking two to get the win. R.J. Alvarez (3-3) didn’t record an out and allowed two runs in the Pacific Coast League contest.
Raffy Lopez doubled twice, scoring a run and also driving one home in the win. Allen Craig doubled and singled, driving home two runs.
Tony Sanchez homered and singled, recording two RBIs for the Express. Christian Lopes also had two hits for the Express as he drove in a run. Scott Heineman had an RBI for Round Rock as well.
Dusty Coleman and Forrestt Allday each doubled and scored twice for El Paso.
The Express are off Wednesday before hosting Omaha for a four-game series.
Round Rock has lost six straight games to fall to 52-63. The Chihuahuas improved to 65-49 after the sweep.
