Express Fan Fest will be March 24 at Dell Diamond

The Round Rock Express announced their annual Fan Fest will be Saturday, March 24, when they plan to turn Dell Diamond into an interactive fun zone for fans of all ages. The event, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., is free of charge.

Fans can test their baseball skills by taking batting practice or pitching in the bullpen. Because of field renovations, the playing surface will not be open. Batting practice will be held in the indoor batting cages.

The picnic area down the right field line will offer a petting zoo and pony rides, and there will be a scavenger hunt around the stadium to turn up prizes.

A hot dog eating contest will be open to all fans who sign up online ahead of time. Craft beer tasting will be available in the beer garden in the left field corner, and several concession stands will be open.

The fun zone will have a rock-climbing wall, playscape, speed pitch, sport court and bounce house. A caricature artist will roam the seating bowl doing custom drawings.

Outside Dell Diamond, the Ben Hur Shriners Carnival will be set up in the west parking lot. The Mustang Owners Club of Austin will put on a charity car show. E-train rides also will be available outside the United Heritage Center.

Fans will be able to purchase game tickets and merchandise.

Round Rock will open the season Thursday, April 5, at home against the Memphis Redbirds.
