Cole’s homer leads Round Rock to win over Salt Lake


Hunter Cole hit two home runs, including a two-run shot in the fifth inning, to lead the Round Rock Express to a 10-5 win over the Salt Lake Bees on Tuesday on the road.

Round Rock had 17 hits in the game and scored eight runs over four innings after falling behind 5-2.

The first home run by Cole scored Andy Ibanez to give the Express a 6-5 lead. Cole finished 2-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Ibanez went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI.

The Express later added a run in the sixth and three in the seventh. In the sixth, Ryan Rua hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Christian Lopes, while Tony Sanchez hit a two-run home run and Cole hit a solo home run in the seventh.

Lopes scored two runs in the game as he went 2-for-4 and drove in a run. Sanchez went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

All but two members of the Express drove in a run. Ryan Rua, Willie Calhoun and Hanser Alberto each had an RBI for Round Rock.

Round Rock starter Michael Roth (2-2) picked up the win despite allowing five runs and nine hits over five innings. Opposing starter Parker Bridwell (1-1) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game after a rough outing in which he allowed six runs and 11 hits over five innings.
