Blash’s homer leads Salt Lake over Round Rock

Jabari Blash hit his Pacific Coast League-leading 16th home run of the year as the Salt Lake Bees coasted to an 8-3 win over the Round Rock Express on Thursday afternoon.

The solo homer by Blash gave the Bees a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning. Blash walked in the seventh and scored when Nolan Fontana smashed a triple, and Fontana scored on a straight steal of home. A walk to Eric Young Jr. and a double by Francisco Arcia made it 5-1.

Scott Heineman’s two-run homer was one of the few bright spots for the Express.

Osmer Morales (4-2) got the win with four innings of scoreless, two-hit relief, and Round Rock starter Yohander Mendez (0-6) took the loss.
