Cedric Golden

Sports columnist

As a kid growing up in Tyler, Cedric Golden always knew he would end up with a career in sports, as either an athlete or a member of the media. Writing won out. Ced was hired by the Statesman in 1999 to cover high school sports. In 2002, he was moved to the college beat where he covered Texas football and baseball. He was at the Rose Bowl for Texas’ first two BCS title wins over Michigan and Southern Cal and at Omaha’s Rosenblatt Stadium when the Horns won the 2005 College World Series. Ced was promoted to a general sports columnist position in the fall of 2006. He is also the name behind Golden’s Nuggets, his online blog that can be found on statesman.com. You can also follow him on twitter @CedGolden.
