FOLLOW LIVE: UT regents expected to approve Army lease, $1B endowment payout


University of Texas System regents are expected to take up a variety of matters on Friday. Among them:

— Approval of a lease of space in the UT System’s downtown Austin headquarters building to the U.S. Army for its Futures Command, which is charged with leading a modernization of military technologies and building partnerships with innovators in academia and industry. Lt. Gen. Eric J. Wesley is scheduled to address the regents.

— Approval of a a record payout of just more than $1 billion from the Permanent University Fund, a higher education endowment benefiting UT System and Texas A&M University System campuses. That payout would amount to 5.7 percent of the $17.8 billion fund.
