As reported by the American-Statesman’s Sean Collins Walsh, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller beat two challengers in the GOP primary. Miller avoided a runoff against former lobbyist Trey Blocker or farmer Jim Hogan, garnering 56 percent of the vote. Miller will face Democrat Kim Olson in November. Miller is known for his provocative social media posts and was a top Texas surrogate during Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign. He also known for using taxpayer funds in 2015 to travel to Oklahoma to receive a “Jesus shot” to relieve pain; he later reimbursed the state.

Robert E. Welch Jr.: Ha ha ha, I love it. Go, Sid.

Michael Steensma: Ha ha, good job y’all. I guess stealing taxpayers’ money won’t make voters hold elected officials accountable.

Jonathan Naizer: God Bless Sid Miller. #KeepTexasRed and free!

John Nettle: I will never understand why the GOP voters would keep this man in office when they had two other choices. He is a fool.

Becky Harmon: Love#Sid Miller.

George Benjamin Farris: Shows you the sad state of the Republican Party.

Ricky Grix: As a fiscal conservative, I have nobody to vote for anymore. A liberal or this thief? No thanks.

Chris Skipper: And he will thump the Democrat running against him with no problem. Not because he is great or even good — he is simply less offensive than the leftists that snipe at him.

Gustavo Ortlieb: Must be the power from that Jesus shot he got.

Paul Montague: Sid Miller shouldn’t be anywhere near our government.

Lyle Mackey: Sid Miller shouldn’t be allowed to supervise a paper route.

Sheila Massey Conner: Bring on Kim Olson for Commissioner of Agriculture. She’s got this.
