As reported by the American-Stateman’s Jonathan Tilove, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, praised President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address and decried Democrats for failing to applaud the successes Trump highlighted in his speech. Cruz told Sean Hannity on Fox News, “It was stunning to watch Washington Democrats sit there stone-faced and refuse to applaud more jobs, higher wages, jobs coming back to America, refuse to applaud wins for the working men and women of America.”
Shawnee Krishna Brown: Exactly why he’s the right choice.
Chris Pickett: Which wins are those? Are we referring to the continued trend begun during the Obama administration of seeing unemployment fall further and further? Or does he mean the thousands of jobs lost at Carrier, AT&T, Walmart and elsewhere?
Drew Keys: I wish we could have had a camera on Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer throughout the entire great speech.
Bob Blair: He has accomplished nothing. Carping at other legislators — while Cruz is himself acknowledged as the most despised member in either House — is unlikely to gain him points.
Dan Welch: Yes, please stand up and cheer the affects made to our Social Security and Medicare. Let’s stand up and cheer because they gave huge tax breaks to millionaires, billionaires and corporations.
Robert Richter: The Dems were a sad bunch. This was the best State of the Union I’ve heard in my lifetime.
Patrick Dowty: And when they refused to applaud or stand for Obama? They love to cry foul when it’s their party not being praised.
Craig Shields: We need to send Sen. Cruz back to Washington.
Cindy Weaver Schaufenbuel: Yeah. Washington-on-the-Brazos.
