WATCH: Speedy turtle evades arrest in Williamson County

Slow and steady wins the race, right?

Not for one turtle hanging out in the middle of a road in Williamson County earlier this week.

On Monday, Sheriff Robert Chody tweeted a video of him helping a turtle cross the road -- but the turtle wants no part of it. Once Chody gets close to him, the little shelled fellow takes off at full speed.

How does it feel getting outrun by a turtle? Not great, according to Chody. The next day, he tweeted that the encounter encouraged him to go for a run, writing that he knows “what the rabbit felt like.”

When the video gained popularity and was shared by ABC News on Wednesday, Chody tweeted, “That’s it! Going running again today!”

You’ll get him next time, Sheriff.
