2:19 p.m. Update: All lanes of U.S. 183 have reopened after a car caught fire on Monday afternoon, officials with the Texas Department of Transportation said.
All northbound lanes and one southbound lane were closed near Thompson Lane while crews worked to clear the roadway of and hazards.
“Drive friendly out there,” transportation officials said.

Earlier: All northbound lanes of U.S. 183 were shut down on Monday afternoon in Southeast Austin after a car caught fire, officials with the Texas Department of Transportation said.
One southbound lane of the highway was also closed near the incident, transportation officials said.
Drivers should expect delays in the area until the area is cleared, officials said.
