This Texas city was named the No. 2 ‘top destination on the rise’

Only one Texas city was recognized as one of TripAdvisor’s “top destinations on the rise.” And we have a guess as to why...

As Today reports, the travel site looked at “search and booking interest, as well as increase in positive traveler review ratings” in compiling its list of 10 destinations in the U.S.

So why the spike in Waco visits? Is there a chance that the city’s star couple Chip and Joanna Gaines have something to do with it? The pair, who star in HGTV’s popular “Fixer Upper,” run a large home decor store, Magnolia Market, in Waco. The store has nearly 4,000 visitor reviews on Google.

Taken when I wasn’t already stressed about school and truly living a more peaceful life *cough, winter break, cough* #wheredidthetimego . Getting back to the grind is definitely not always my favorite thing. You have to do semi-adultish things like grocery shop, do homework, plan out your future, and other not so much fun activities. But it is good to be back on a schedule so I guess there is one plus. 😂 . For #piitday10 we are supposed to share something we are insecure about and instead of saying something about my looks... I’m actually pretty insecure about the one of my favorite hobbies/passions... reading 📖 📚 . I know! It’s such a crazy thing to be insecure about because I know people read... and like it... because I’ve connected to those people over social media. But whenever I have to fill out a simple survey/resume/anything else that requires you to say what you do in your free time... I never really want to say that I like to read. And I think it’s because people instantly ask “what genre do you enjoy?” And saying that I enjoy young adult fantasy/Sci-fi or romance seems so uncool and juvenile and naive - ugh I seriously don’t even like typing this insecurity out. 😭 . Does anyone else get embarrassed when announcing that they are a bookworm? Or saying what genres they enjoy? Or are insecure about something completely different?? ❓❔❓ . #piit28 #piit #piitstagram #piit28photochallenge #piitsters #piitstagramphotochallenge #piit28challenge #piit28journey #piitprincess #magnoliamarket #magnolia #bookstagram #insecure #insecurities #insecuritiessuck #insecuritiesareloud

According to the Houston Chronicle, the store has fans of the show flocking to Waco. Those planning to visit can find numerous self-led tours mapping homes featured on the show.

Not to say that some of the other popular Waco sights, like the Dr. Pepper museum, or the Cameron Park Zoo, aren’t to blame for the city’s draw:

So apparently Waco is closed on Sundays ⛪️

Waco’s inclusion on the list is a nice reminder that not all Texas has to offer is located in the state’s most popular or largest cities.
