A woman who Austin police have accused of robbing a Subway fast food restaurant in the University of Texas area has been arrested, jail records show.

Dietra Lee

Dietra Lashell Lee, 42, was booked into the Travis County Jail on a robbery charge around 6:40 p.m. Thursday, records show.

The robbery happened around 8:40 p.m. Friday at the Subway on West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at San Antonio Street, Austin police have said. A woman arrived, bought two cookies, then gave the Subway employee a note that read “I have a gun. Give me the cash in the drawer. I’ll shoot.” She showed the employee a bulge in the waistband of her pants.

Officers stopped Lee less than six minutes after the robbery and brought her back to the Subway, where the Subway employee did not identify her as the robber, Lee’s arrest affidavit says. However, detectives later reviewed surveillance footage that led them to conclude that Lee was the robber, the affidavit says.

Lee’s affidavit does not name her as a suspect in two previous robberies for different Subways in the area, incidents that both occurred on Jan. 19.
