Men steal guns, jewelry from Austin pawn shop, federal officials say

Two men on Monday robbed a South Austin pawn shop, threatening an employee with a sledgehammer and breaking display cases, according to officials with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The men stole five pistols and over $6,000 in jewelry, officials said.

The feds are offering a reward of up to $4,000 for information about the crime. Call 1-888-283-8477 to share a tip; your call may remain confidential.

The robbery happened around 4 p.m. at the Cash America Pawn on West Ben White Boulevard at South First Street, officials said. The store was open at the time.

Two men entered the store and robbed it while a third man stood outside and held the door open for the robbers, federal officials said.

The men fled in an older model, red, four-door sedan that was possibly a Toyota, officials said.
