Police respond to KIPP campus in East Austin after disturbance report


Austin police responded to KIPP Austin’s east campus Tuesday afternoon after reports of a disturbance.

Austin police confirmed that officers were sent out to the school, but no additional information was immediately available.

KIPP Austin spokesman Hector Leyva said there is no “active threat” to the campus at 8509 FM 969 and no lockdowns or evacuations have been ordered.

Leiva said police will remain at the campus for the rest of the day, and no changes to dismissal times are planned.
