One lane of SB I-35 shut down near Wells Branch Parkway after crash

The far right lane of southbound Interstate 35 and part of the southbound service road has shut down just north of Wells Branch Parkway in North Austin due to a wreck, authorities said.

A vehicle traveling southbound on I-35 left the highway and rolled down onto the service road, said Austin police Lt. Brian Moon. Police received a call reporting the wreck at 5:16 p.m., he said.

Two men were in the vehicle, one in his 40s and one in his 20s, and both have been taken to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, according to Austin-Travis County EMS. One man suffered serious injuries and one has potentially serious injuries, EMS said.

Currently, one lane on the service road is closed as well as the far right lane of southbound I-35, he said.

Police expect the roadways will be closed for a few hours as authorities investigate the crash. Drivers should expect delays in the area.
