Man, woman found shot dead outside southeast Travis County home

Authorities said a motorist driving in the 12000 block of Von Quintus Road spotted a man lying in a yard.

The sheriff’s office declined to say whether any suspects have been identified.

Two people were found dead outside a southeastern Travis County home Friday morning with gunshot wounds, authorities said.

Travis County sheriff’s spokeswoman Kristen Dark said a motorist driving in the 12000 block of Von Quintus Road called 911 at 7:06 a.m. to report a man lying in a yard.

When authorities responded, they found a man and a woman, both in their 20s, dead outside a residence.

Dark said it was still too early in the investigation to provide any other details.

“We are working to determine exactly what happened,” Dark said. “The evidence we have collected thus far indicates the decedents were known to each other.”

“And there is no reason to believe the public is in any danger,” she added.

It was unclear whether the two people lived in the home, Dark said, and authorities declined to say whether any suspects have been identified.

The bodies had been found within a mile from where sheriff’s deputies found 31-year-old Johnny Cardenas of Austin in July.

He was found in a grassy area several feet from the road in the 9800 block of Blocker Lane, sheriff’s officials had said. His death was being investigated by the sheriff’s office homicide unit as a suspicious death.
