UPDATE: Austin police seeking tips after 20-year-old man found dead in East Austin

11:45 a.m. update: Austin police are asking for the public’s help in their investigation of a 20-year-old man found dead at an East Austin apartment complex early Monday.

Police responded to a shooting call at the complex around 6:05 a.m. in the 5600 block of Springdale Road in the Pecan Springs neighborhood, police said.

The man, Damarcio White, has family in the area but investigators are not sure if he lived at the apartment complex, said a police spokeswoman, Senior Officer Destiny Winston.

Police cannot confirm that White was shot, only that he was found with “traumatic injuries to the body,” Winston said.

Investigators, who have not identified a suspect, are asking anyone with information about the case to call Austin police’s homicide tip line at 512-477-3588.

Medics were dispatched to the 5600 block of Springdale Road in the Pecan Springs neighborhood around 6:25 a.m., EMS said.

No other injuries were reported.
