A Round Rock man is accused of breaking into a woman’s apartment Tuesday night with the intention of sexually assaulting her.
Ivan Olivarez Lopez, 21, was charged with burglary of a habitation with intent to commit sexual assault, a first-degree felony punishable by up to 99 years in prison.
The victim told police she had met Lopez on Facebook in March 2017 and become friends with him until May 2017, “when he started acting strange,” the affidavit said.
After taking a shower Tuesday night at her apartment on Louis Henna Boulevard, the victim saw Lopez standing in her living room, the affidavit said. He told her he had climbed up to her balcony and entered her apartment, the document said.
The woman told police that he was upset about not having a relationship with her, the affidavit said.
It said Lopez grabbed a knife and held it to his throat, telling the victim he had no reason to live if she didn’t want to be with him. They struggled over the knife, which caused minor cuts to the victim’s hands, the document said. The woman said she told Lopez she didn’t want to be in a relationship with him, it said, and they walked outside to her patio to continue talking. The victim went inside to get her phone and when she returned to the patio to finish a drink of whiskey, she said Lopez had put a drug in it that made her feel weak and lethargic, the affidavit said.
The woman said she became so weak that half an hour later she was not able to resist Lopez when he undressed her and raped her, it said.
Lopez fled with the victim’s phone and bicycle, the document said.
Lopez was being held in the Williamson County Jail on Friday with bail set at $100,000.
