4-year-old girl found safe, father in custody after Amber Alert issued

2:30 p.m. Thursday update: A 4-year-old girl was found safe Thursday and her father is in custody after the Travis County sheriff’s office issued an Amber Alert when he took her against a court order, officials said.

Sheriff’s officials said they would share more information at 3 p.m.

Katelyn Ramirez was last seen earlier this week in Pflugerville, sheriff’s officials said. Authorities said her father, 40-year-old Eric John Ramirez of Liberty Hill, had taken her, officials said.

Thanks to Amber Alert tips, deputies found Katelyn and her dad Thursday at a home in Liberty Hill, Travis County sheriff’s Capt. Craig Smith said. He declined to release the exact location.

Eric Ramirez was arrested and charged with interference with child custody, Smith said.

At least one more person could be charged with interference of child custody, Smith said, but he did not say who.

Katelyn Ramirez is now with CPS officials, and Smith said he was unsure who would be taking care of her in the future.

“Now it will up to CPS and a judge to determine her placement,” Smith said.

Earlier: A father took his 4-year-old daughter against a court order, and an Amber Alert has been issued for her as a result, Travis County sheriff’s official said.

Katelyn Ramirez was last seen two days ago at 17501 Bridgefarmer Blvd., Pflugerville, sheriff’s officials said. Her father, 40-year-old Eric John Ramirez, of Liberty Hill, took her, officials said.

Anyone who sees Katelyn or Eric Ramirez is asked to call 911 immediately.

Ramirez has several outstanding warrants and may be driving a 2018 Red Chevy Camaro with the license plate KBX7877, officials said.

He could also be driving a gray BMW sedan with the temporary license plate 20089Z9, a white Volkswagen Tiguan, or a white GMC Yukon with the license plate JRV2702.
