DEVELOPING: Site seeks donations for family of student slain in UT stabbing attack

Friends and strangers have opened their wallets to back a fund to support the family of slain University of Texas student Harrison Brown, who was killed in a stabbing attack on the campus Monday afternoon.

A GoFundMe page set up for the family raised more than $36,000 from more than 1,500 people in the hours after the attack, which injured three other students.

The page lists Colton Becker, a member of the UT Student Government’s Executive Council as a contact for the effort and an email address, texasIFC.philanthropy@gmail.com.

The American-Statesman has reached out to Becker but he has not yet responded to a request for an interview.
