Man dies after Domain shooting; shooter still at large, police say


8:05 pm update: A man died after he was shot in a parking lot at the Domain on Tuesday afternoon, police said. 

Earlier: A man was shot in the parking lot in front of Dick’s Sporting Goods at the Domain on Tuesday afternoon, Austin police said.

Police responded at 4:47 p.m. Witnesses told police the shooting victim was in a car and that the shooter may have driven away in a different car, police said. 

At 6:45 p.m., officers did not have anyone in custody and were still working to track down the shooter. 

The man has critical, life-threatening injuries, Austin-Travis County EMS officials said. Medics took him to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center.

Police said the man was conscious and able to speak when medics put him in the ambulance.

Anyone who can identify the shooter is eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if their anonymous tip is the first to lead to the shooter’s arrest. Call Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477 or use the “P3 Tips” smartphone app to leave an anonymous tip. 

“We do have detectives interviewing all their witnesses, and they’re reviewing all the surveillance video cameras they can,” Austin police Cpl. John Majefski said.
