Attorneys set a summer trial date Wednesday for the man suspected of inflicting serious injuries by throwing rocks at cars on I-35.
Patrick Johnson will go to trial on June 19 in David Crain’s 331st district court in Travis County. He is facing four felonies of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The four charges are expected to be tried seperately.
Austin police say Johnson, 60, was behind most of the 90-plus rock-throwing incidents on I-35 that began in 2014. No one was killed, but one victim suffered brain damage and another lost vision in his eye.
Johnson previously turned down a 40-year offer from prosecutors. He currently is serving 99 years in prison after being convicted of sexual assault of a child in September.
