Man stabbed during fight with neighbor, police say
A 30-year-old man was hospitalized Thursday morning in New Braunfels after being stabbed by a neighbor during a fight, according to police.
Officers responded to the Sage Apartments in the 2500 block of West San Antonio Street around 2:50 a.m. after receiving reports of the stabbing.
Emergency crews found the man with a serious wound to his abdomen and being cared for by the 24-year-old neighbor who had caused the wound, police said.
“First, the stabbing victim had used a belt to strike the other male numerous times, causing several welts and contusions on the man’s head, back, and body. In order to defend himself, the other male produced a knife and stabbed the attacker in the abdomen,” police said.
After the stabbing, the 24-year-old asked a witness to call 911.
The 30-year-old was taken to the San Antonio Military Medical Center with injuries that were not expected to be life-threatening, police said.
Police said charges could be filed against one or both of the men involved.
