Jill Lear + Katie Maratta at Gallery Shoal Creek. Date Night at the DAC: Pet Appreciation Party. Whether your best friend has fur, scales or feathers, bring them to the Dougherty Arts Center and get them immortalized with a custom pet portrait that you will create with the assistance of an artist. Harry Potter trivia at Kitty Cohen’s. Remember the wood that Ron Weasley’s second wand was made of? Rock the Park with Mobley. KUTX 98.9’s monthly family-friendly music series is back for a fall run with performances by two Austin favorites. Saturday, Sept. 22

OAKtoberfest at Live Oak Brewing. One of the best German-style breweries in town is timing its annual Oktoberfest party to take place on the first day of the two-week Munich festival that inspired all the rest around the world.
