February fun continues with new East Side Mini Open at Austin bars

Recreation

East Side Mini Open. Nine East Austin watering holes are hosting an 18-hole mini roving golf course. Each venue, including the White Horse, Kitty Cohen’s and the Historic Scoot Inn, will be creating their own putting greens and competing against each other for “the most unique hole.” Official putt-putt gear will be provided, although participants are welcome to bring their own putters as well. You can play out the course in any order, but starting tee time is at Yellow Jacket Social Club. 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. $10. 1704 E. Fifth St. facebook.com/events/1974942776113769/.

Nature

Austin Cave Festival. This all-day celebration of local caves will feature hands-on activities, cave explorations, science and adventure presentations, live music and more. Participants will get the chance to visit two caves — La Crosse Cave and Wildflower Cave — and see how water wends its way to the aquifer and Barton Springs and which animals call Austin’s caves home. Cave tour registrations are full, but walk-ups will be accepted, space permitting. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. $4-$10. 4801 La Crosse Ave. wildflower.org.

Coming up

La Vie en Rose at Four Seasons Austin. Adept in the art of romance, the French provide ample inspiration for this special Valentine’s Day event in the Lobby Lounge. In addition to two bands, romantic revelers will enjoy a selection of French-inspired food and drink. Tickets include an aperitif and are only available at the door the day of the event. The hotel’s Trio restaurant is also hosting a music-inspired Valentine’s Day dinner, if you’d prefer something a little fancier. 7 p.m. Wednesday. $25. 98 San Jacinto Blvd. fourseasons.com/austin/dining/events-and-promotions/.
