As you probably know, 2017 has been quite the year. We inaugurated a new president, Donald Trump, in January, and he’s made a number of controversial decisions that have sent shockwaves throughout the nation.
One Austin family decided to theme their Christmas decorations accordingly.
It depicts Trump as the Grinch (featuring a jab at the “tiny hands” joke that’s been circulating since his candidacy) and in his sleigh are some of the major issues Trump has made decisions on this year: the Affordable Care Act, the Paris Climate Accord, Bears Ears National Monument, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals and net neutrality.
A storybook by the depiction of Trump references the president’s tax code overhaul which was signed into law Friday.
“Then Trump thought of something he hadn’t before! ‘Maybe taxes,’ he thought, ‘shouldn’t come from the poor. Maybe democracy perhaps...means a little bit more!’” the sign reads.
According to KVUE, if you want to take a look yourself, the house is on East 51st Street.
It’s not the first time Trump has been compared to the Grinch. There’s also this CollegeHumor video from 2015, which spoofs “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch” with Trump as the focus.
There’s also Rep. David Cicilline of Rhode Island, who compared Trump to the Grinch on the House floor earlier this week. He retold the classic story with Trump as the Grinch and the items he steals from the townspeople as middle-class tax cuts.
