‘Austin City Limits’ new season to premiere in October with Ed Sheeran


The 2017 season for the iconic Austin music television show, ‘Austin City Limits,’ is set to kick off at 8 p.m. C.S.T. on Oct. 7 with a premiere episode featuring British teen heartthrob turned arena rocker Ed Sheeran. ( The taping for that episode actually takes place on Sunday.)

According to the ‘ACL’ folks, with this season, the show’s 43rd, “‘ACL’ becomes the longest-running music show in television history.”

Along with Sheeran, this season will feature appearances from The Pretenders, Zac Brown Band, Miranda Lambert, Norah Jones, Angel Olsen, Benjamin Booker and more.

Sheeran’s set on Sunday kicks off a three-night run of tapings. Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires perform on Monday and Father John Misty on Tuesday. (PSA: It’s still possible to sign up for the free ticket drawings for Isbell and Misty until noon on Friday.)
