FORECAST UPDATE: Higher chance of wintry mix predicted for Monday night, Tuesday


A higher chance of a wintry mix is in store for Central Texas Tuesday following mild temperatures Sunday and Monday, according to the National Weather Service. 

Sunday will be sunny with a high near 56 and light wind, according to the service. That night will bring increasing clouds and a low around 38 degrees.

Weather will be comfortable for MLK Day with partly sunny skies and a high near 62, the service said. That night could bring showers, mainly after midnight, as there will be a 60 percent chance of precipitation. It will be mostly cloudy as well as gusty with a low around 31.

Following an arctic cold front after midnight Monday night and before sunrise Tuesday morning, temperatures will plummet to the upper 20s to low 30s across Central Texas, according to the National Weather Service. 

There is a moderate chance of a wintry mix, primarily of rain or sleet, following the front, according to the National Weather Service. 

Wind chills in the teens and 20s are expected during the day.
