FORECAST: Cold front Sunday afternoon to bring winter chill

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… Austin Christmas, that is.

Not quite a white Christmas but a cold front is set to sweep the Austin area today, according to the National Weather Service. The same front is bringing snow to the Midwest and Great Plains.

Sunday will be sunny with a high near 59 until the afternoon when temperatures will start dropping and winds could gust as high as 25 miles per hour.

That night, Christmas Eve will be mostly clear with a low around 32 degrees and winds will lessen in speed, the service said.

Christmas Day is expected to be sunny with a high near 54 degrees, and that night will be mostly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of rain.
