DKR’s loud speakers driving this fan away

Last week was probably the last UT football game that I will attend. I have been a season ticket holder for over 30 years. We sit in the westside upper deck, Section 106. The newly installed speakers caused decibel levels to average 90 to 94 and at times reached 97. Yes, we measured it.

After the 30 minutes of pregame, nonstop music and the first quarter, my ears were stressed, we could not carry on a reasonable conversation with friends around us, and we could hardly hear the UT band when it was playing.

I have been a part of UT screaming crowds, and that is nothing like the new PA system. They have made the football game into a rock concert, and it feels like you are sitting in front of the speakers.

Bohls: Malik Jefferson healthy, hungry to make NFL impression

While I got ya, here are nine things and one crazy prediction: 1. Jefferson, who led...

LSU made an interesting move on Tuesday evening. The Tigers extended an offer to junior college cornerback Elijah Blades, who was one of the top prospects in the nation not too long ago. Blades, a one-time Florida verbal commitment and former Nebraska signee, opted to take the junior college route coming out of John Muir (Calif...

A request by the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders to be shifted from a Class 6A district to a Class 5A one was denied Tuesday by a University Interscholastic League committee. Similarly, an appeal by Marble Falls High to switch from District 17-5A to District 18-5A for every sport but football also was denied. Officials at Ann Richards,...

Arkansas’ late collapse dooms basketball Hogs against Kentucky…again

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – On paper this is the worst Kentucky team since John Calipari’s been the coach. Even in the enviorns of Hog-friendly Bud Walton Arena, the Arkansas basketball team could not best its nemesis. Kentucky won for the sixth straight time over Arkansas and pulled itself into a tie with the Razorbacks in the SEC...

LSU basketball guarantees winning season, beats Vanderbilt 88-78

BATON ROUGE, La. — Consider LSU basketball coach Will Wade’s first goal met. Despite the surprise choice to relegate senior forward Duop Reath to the bench at the start of the game, LSU’s offense dominated Vanderbilt from start to finish on Tuesday night, defeating the Commodores 88-78.  The win improved...
