Texas Stars top Ontario Reign for third straight win


The Texas Stars picked up their third straight win as they defeated the Ontario Reign 4-2 at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park on Saturday.

Jason Dickinson scored twice in the third period to help lift the Stars (16-9-0-1) to the win.

Landon Bow had another strong night in goal for Texas, making 23 saves on 25 shots.

Travis Morin assisted on two goals in the contest for the Stars.

Justin Dowling opened the scoring for Texas, converting on a power play early in the first period.

The Reign (9-10-0-1) scored a power-play goal in the next period to tie the game up. Michael Mersch scored with assists from Matt Moulson and Kevin Gravel.

Austin Wagner gave Ontario a 2-1 lead very early in the final frame before the Stars scored three straight goals.

Dickinson scored the Stars’ second power-play goal of the contest with help from Matt Mangene and Andrew Bodnarchuk. Texas finished the game 2-for-5 on power plays while Ontario went 1-for-4.

Samuel Laberge gave the Stars the lead for good with a goal at 7:02 into the period.

Dickinson sealed the win with an empty-net goal that was his team-leading 13th score of the season.

Jack Campbell took the loss for Ontario as he saved 29 out of 32 shots.

Texas hosts Ontario again on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
