Hat trick ends Texas Stars’ three-game win streak


The Stockton Heat scored four goals in the third period to defeat the Texas Stars 6-2 in an American Hockey League contest on Friday at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.

The loss put an end to the Stars’ three-game winning streak.

Brett Pollock scored a hat trick to lead the Heat (20-14-2-3) to the comeback win. Spencer Foo also had a strong game, scoring twice and assisting on another goal for Stockton.

Samuel Laberge and Brian Flynn were responsible for the two goals by the Stars.

Laberge scored the first goal of the game, assisted by Sheldon Dries and Julius Honka.

Foo tied the game with less than three minutes to play in the first frame.

Texas (23-16-4-2) took its only lead when Flynn scored his 13th goal of the season at 18:01 into the first period.

Pollock tied the game for the final time in the middle period. That goal sparked a five-goal scoring streak for the Heat.

Pollock scored his second of the game early in the third.

Foo notched his second goal, a shorthanded effort, 8:21 into the final period.

Pollock completed the hat trick at 14:39 into the period. His hat trick accounted for his first three goals of the season.

Colby Robak rounded out the scoring with an empty-net goal with less than four minutes to play.
