Forget about college football recruiting for a minute and remember that the Lone Star State boasts talented high school athletes in other sports, too.

The NCAA’s latest signing period opened Wednesday, and these local high school standouts signed — or planned to sign — to compete in their respective sports in college. They are listed below with their high schools and their college choices.
