The Kiwis’ edge in America’s Cup: drones

Nick Bowers heard his phone ring at 5 one morning in September 2015. He struggled out of bed and answered. On the line was a boat maker from Holland with an urgent request: Could he be in Italy that night to shoot video of the A-Class World Catamaran Championships? Bowers, who lived in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, where he ran a small video production company...

Ten years ago, the Blackhawks got lucky, and it changed the franchise

Fourteen numbered Ping-Pong balls tumbled inside the lottery machine before they popped out, one by one. Four. Five. Seven. Eleven.  The probability chart that divided the possible combinations among the 14 teams participating in the NHL draft lottery on April 10, 2007 showed that the Blackhawks — with an 8.1 percent chance of moving from...

The chef, whose restaurants include Babbo, Del Posto, Lupa, Bar Jamón, Esca, and the Italian-food supermarket destination Eataly, estimates that he will play 45 rounds over the summer. "One of the things about my job is that I spend a lot of time in small, hot rooms surrounded...

Mets have little time to get into wild-card race

But if a turnaround is going to happen — and the odds are not good that one will — it needs to begin immediately. Going into Wednesday’s games, the Mets had a 31-39...

Ronaldo, under fire, strikes quickly before slipping away

There was a collective murmur of surprise on Wednesday night when Cristiano Ronaldo swept into the interview room at Spartak Stadium in Moscow.
