Lake Travis remained No. 2 in the weekly Class 6A state poll compiled by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association. Sophomore Jimmy Lewis threw a gem in a win over Leander last week, striking out seven and allowing two hits in a complete-game shutout. The Cavaliers began a three-game series against Vista Ridge this week with a 6-3 victory. … Hendrickson suffered its first setback in District 13-6A play as Stony Point recorded a 12-1 victory on Wednesday. Stony Point’s Logan Garza threw a one-hitter to earn his third straight shutout win. … Round Rock moved into a tie with Hendrickson for first place in District 13-6A with a 4-1 win over Westwood on Wednesday. Aidan Shepardson finished 3 for 4 to pace the Dragons’ offense, and Grant Miller struck out nine while allowing two hits in 6 1/3 innings. … Anderson has won six consecutive games while climbing to the top of the District 14-6A standings. Pitcher Walker Sigman entered the week ranked third among area pitchers with 60 strikeouts, based on stats submitted to the American-Statesman, and James Baran paces the Anderson lineup with a .406 batting average. … Rouse pitchers Devin Tucker and Devin Hooper combined to allow two hits and total 11 strikeouts in a pivotal 2-1 victory over Cedar Park last week. The win set up a showdown between the Raiders and Georgetown for first place in District 19-5A, and it handed the Timberwolves a second consecutive district loss. … McCallum’s pitching staff continued its dominance over District 25-5A foes during a 10-0 win over Crockett last week. The Knights have allowed more than two runs only once this season, a 9-6 victory over Burnet in February. … Georgetown Gateway Prep, a private school that competes in District 25-3A, handed Lago Vista just its third loss of the season when it beat the Vikings 4-1 last week. With the loss, Lago Vista fell from No. 2 to No. 7 in the latest THSBCA Class 3A state rankings.
