Golden: Restaurant by day, UFC by night suits Geoff Neal fine — for now

Geoff Neal likes his steak medium rare. “If you get it well-done,” he said, “don’t talk to me.” Lately, the grill time for medium rare steaks lasts about the same time as opponents in his other job: Not long at all. Neal, who was born in Austin, works as a waiter/bartender at a Texas Roadhouse in Dallas to help support...

McKalla Place: The good, bad and ugly for possible MLS stadium site

When ranking the physical treasures of Austin, McKalla Place won’t land in anybody’s top 10. Or top 50. Nonetheless, the 24-acre, city-owned property in North Austin is part of a shrinking group of properties that have been offered to Precourt Sports Ventures, owners of Columbus Crew SC, as potential sites for a 20,000-seat stadium. PSV...

Fifth-ranked Duke has played so well lately that college basketball analysts have actually debated whether the Blue Devils (23-5, 11-4 ACC) are a better team without freshman phenom Marvin Bagley III. That might be a stretch. Either way, Allen scored a game-high...

The No. 19-ranked Vols (20-7, 10-5) led throughout the game, their defense clamping down on Florida’s perimeter shooters. The Gators were just 6-of-24 from...

It’s not that this was a must-win game Wednesday night for Florida, but at some point very soon, something has to change if the Gators are going to have any chance to make a postseason run this year. Instead, the slide continued at Tennessee for the reeling Gators. There was no second-half collapse this time, but only because Florida...
