WATCH: TCU basketball receives NIT Championship rings


TCU men’s basketball fell short of the NCAA Tournament under first-year head coach Jamie Dixon during the 2016-17 season. The Horned Frogs, however, made the most of their year by bringing home an NIT Title.

On Friday night, those who were part of the championship team were given tangible reminders of the triumph.

TCU players received their rings from the Spring 2017 title moments before the team’s season-opening contest against Louisiana-Monroe at the Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

TCU was picked to finish third in-conference this season behind Kansas and West Virginia in the Big 12 preseason coaches poll.

Dixon turned TCU around from a Big-12 cellar-dweller to a team that upset the No. 1 team in the country one season ago. With the trajectory that TCU is currently on, big things could be in store for the Horned Frogs this season as they seek a Big 12 title and an invite to the 2018 edition of March Madness.
