Twitter reacts to Indiana’s shocking 90-69 loss to Indiana State

There are surprising losses, and then there’s Indiana getting rolled by Indiana State to open its season.

The Hoosiers fell 90-69 on Friday in Archie Miller’s debut as head coach in Bloomington and it’s safe to say no one was ready for it. The Sycamores set a record for three-pointers scored against Indiana with 17 triples on 26 attempts and shot 59.2 percent from the field overall.

Here’s the best reactions from a surreal night at Indiana.

Half: Indiana State 54, IU 33

Surprised? If I woke up tomorrow with my head sewn to the carpet, I wouldn't be more surprised than I am now.

UK down 9 to Utah Valley at half. IU being blown out by Indiana State. Louisville a molten mess of a program. My neck of the woods is hurtin

Hey Larry, how do you feel about your alma mater Indiana State leading the Hoosiers by 22 at halftime? https://t.co/bxqplWdCH5 pic.twitter.com/t0zSfaUt35

Lots of fans heading to the exits at under 8. At least the drive through the construction zone on 37 tonight shouldn't be too congested.

Indiana State is 17-of-22 from behind the 3-point line. Some of it has been luck. A lot of it has been very bad defense. All of it has been mind-blowing and ugly. #iubb

Indiana getting pounded by Indiana State. Hoosiers fans will need to be patient.

Hey IU beat Kansas to start last year and sucked the rest of the year so maybe getting curb stomped by Terre Haute is just what the doctor ordered for little Archie.

Let's check around the league and… OH MY GOD THERE IS BLOOD EVERYWHERE!!!!! pic.twitter.com/Bf4dDY8gWA

Indiana State has already set the opponent record for three-point field goals in Assembly Hall — 17 of 22 — with 8 minutes to play. Sycamores have a Secretartiat like 28 point lead.

Archie Miller is the first #iubb coach to lose a season-opening debut since Everett Dean in 1924.

Who did Everett lose to?

Indiana State.

— Matt Glenesk (@MattGlenesk) November 11, 2017

Tough loss. Still, I like that IU played a state school. Hoosiers will get better. https://t.co/U1nG8XN8f7

In the past year-ish, Indiana has lost to Fort Wayne, Butler, Indiana State and Purdue twice. https://t.co/JDowFd6FUj

Indiana State beats Indiana, 90-69. Indiana State coach Greg Lansing makes $250K a year. Indiana coach Archie Miller makes $279K A MONTH.

"The team that fired you just lost their first game by 21 points to Indiana State. Your thoughts?" pic.twitter.com/YbZFYPxks6

You know what grabs your attention at big air snowboarding at the Olympics? When the announcer introduces the first rider like so: “Cheryl Maas! Coming back from a broken neck!” The announcer went on to say that Maas, who is 33 and from the Netherlands, had been struggling with bruised heels before coming to Pyeongchang, but to be honest...

They arrived from all corners of Uiseong County. They brought homemade signs, waved flags and screamed for every shot. They came to celebrate four young women from this farming community who have emerged as the most unexpected (and most gloriously bespectacled) stars of the 2018 Winter Olympics. On Tuesday afternoon, townspeople gathered inside the...

Kentucky center Nick Richards had just dropped 25 points on visiting Fort Wayne in an 86-67 win Nov. 22. Seeking to explain his offensive outburst, the deep-voiced UK freshman told the postgame media horde that Wildcats assistant coach Kenny Payne had been working with him on a jump hook.   The exchange started me thinking about something...

Daniel Murphy looked in the mirror and decided it was time to make a change. So, Tuesday morning, he took a seat in the barber's chair in the bathroom in the Washington Nationals' clubhouse. He was scheduled for his annual photo and video shoot for the footage that will be used on the scoreboard at Nationals Park during the season later on. It was...

Mikaela Shiffrin uses only one pair of skis for an Olympic race. But just in case, she has 35 pairs with her here at the Winter Games — and, for her, that’s a relatively light load. She often travels to competitions with 70 pairs of skis. It is a herculean task to lug so many long, pointed, sharp-edged skis across three continents during...
