Report: Former Tennessee coach Derek Dooley is a candidate Louisiana-Lafayette job

Former Tennessee coach Derek Dooley could be a head coach again sooner rather than later.

According to a report from USA Today’s Dan Wolken, the failed Vols’ coach is a candidate at Louisiana-Lafayette:

As if there wasn’t enough Tennessee news… former Vols coach Derek Dooley has surfaced as a person of interest in the Louisiana-Lafayette search, I’m told.

— Dan Wolken (@DanWolken) December 7, 2017

That would be a major development for Dooley’s career, which suffered greatly after he was ousted in Knoxville. Dooley replaced Lane Kiffin in 2010, but was fired in 2012 after amassing just a 15-21 record in three seasons.

Dooley has spent the last five years as a wide receivers coach for the Dallas Cowboys.
