FOX Sports analyst moves Mason Rudolph into top-5 ‘Heisman hopefuls’

Oklahoma State quarterback Mason Rudolph was out-dueled by Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield in a 62-52 Bedlam game loss on Nov. 4. But Rudolph’s Heisman Trophy chances aren’t dashed just yet, according to one past winner of the award.

FOX Sports analyst and 2004 Heisman winner Matt Leinart moved Rudolph into his top-5 “Heisman hopefuls” heading into Week 11.

Rudolph replaced Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett in the top-5 after Barrett was intercepted four times in a 55-24 loss to Iowa in Week 10.

Rudolph has thrown for 3,314 passing yards and 34 touchdowns this season — the latter which is one more than Mayfield. Mayfield finished atop Leinart’s top-5 for the second straight week.

Oklahoma State still has one more ranked opponent left on its schedule — No. 24 Iowa State — before facing Kansas State and Kansas to conclude the regular season.

Rudolph will likely need some outside help to have a chance at winning the trophy, but at this rate, there’s no reason to believe that two Big 12 quarterbacks — Rudolph and Mayfield — won’t be heading to New York City for the award ceremony this December.
