San Antonio Spurs mascot mocks Mariah Carey’s NYE performance

The San Antonio Spurs mascot helped ring in the first home game of the new year by poking fun at Mariah Carey’s not-so-ringing New Year’s Eve performance.

Meet “Coyote Carey.”

With the help of the team’s Silver Dancers, the always-eccentric Spurs Coyote appeared on court to do a routine to Carey’s song “Emotion” during Tuesday’s game against the Toronto Raptors. It’s the same song Carey intended on performing when audio problems led the singer to stroll around the stage instead of singing.

The mascot nailed Carey’s look too, dressed in a nude-colored leotard and sequined tights, adding in a white vest. After “singing” for a few seconds, the Coyote taps its mic before promptly walking off the court.

After the show, the Coyote even parodied Carey’s post-performance tweet.

Ask the Test Kitchen: Do you peel bananas before freezing?

A: If there is one cool thing about bananas, it’s that they freeze wonderfully. And they keep just fine in the freezer for about three months. Freezing is a way to preserve bananas that have reached their ripeness peak or are close to overripe. Rather than tossing them because you can’t eat them out of hand, freeze them to use in making...

Everything’s up to date (for 1958, that is)

Forget the famous power lunch. For the time being, forget about any lunch at all in the rooms that used to house the Four Seasons. When the Grill, the first of two new restaurants in the Seagram Building space, opens to the public next week, it will serve only dinner. Jeff Zalaznick, a partner in Major Food Group, which now runs the restaurant complex...
